1819 Esplanade Avenue is a notable property located in the historic Tremé neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana. Constructed in 1892, this three-story Renaissance Revival villa has served various roles throughout its existence.
The mansion’s history includes ownership by the legendary musician Fats Domino, who used it as an investment property. Additionally, the estate has functioned as a rectory and has accommodated large families over the years. The mansion was visited by historical figures such as the Pope. 
Esplanade Avenue itself is a historic street in New Orleans, running northwest from the Mississippi River to Beauregard Circle at the entrance to City Park. It has been an important thoroughfare since the 18th century and is lined with many 19th-century mansions, reflecting its past as a “millionaires row” for the Creole community. 
The Tremé neighborhood, where 1819 Esplanade Avenue is situated, is one of the oldest African American neighborhoods in the United States. It has a rich cultural history, particularly in the development of jazz music, and has been home to a diverse population since its establishment in the late 18th century.
